SOME KIND OF A NUT (1969) — DVD | Dick Van Dyke | Angie Dickinson | Rosemary Forsyth | NR
He grew a small beard. Society reacted as though he had done something serious.
Dick Van Dyke and Angie Dickinson in this sharp and entertaining late 1960s comedy about a bank teller whose refusal to shave a small beard triggers a disproportionate institutional response — a film of genuine social satire wit about conformity authority and the absurd seriousness with which institutions defend their arbitrary conventions. Rosemary Forsyth in a production of real comedic intelligence.
The beard was small. The principle it represented was not.
