A European space mission discovers a planet in Earth’s orbit directly on the opposite side of the sun — invisible to us because of our relative positions. Astronaut Ross (Roy Thinnes) lands on what appears to be Earth, but with everything mirrored: words read right to left, steering wheels on the wrong side, his own image reversed. What it means — and what the implications are for human identity — forms one of the most fascinating and deeply unsettling conclusions in science fiction cinema.
