Description
Excalibur (1981) — Starring Nigel Terry, Helen Mirren, Nicholas Clay | Rated R
The sword. The stone. The legend of King Arthur — as you’ve never seen it before.
John Boorman’s visually spectacular telling of the Arthurian legend follows the rise of Arthur from bastard boy to High King of Britain, the forging of the Round Table, the search for the Holy Grail, and the final cataclysmic battle that ends the age of magic. Gleaming armor, lush Irish landscapes, swirling mist, and a magnificent Wagnerian/Orff score create an atmosphere of mythic grandeur, while Helen Mirren is memorably seductive as the treacherous Morgana.
From the age of dragons came the age of legend.
