Happy Birthday, Wanda June (1971) is a dark comedy directed by Mark Robson, based on Kurt Vonnegut’s play. The film follows the return of Harold Ryan (Roddy McDowall), a soldier presumed dead after a long disappearance in the South American jungle. As he reenters a world that has moved on without him, Ryan struggles to reconcile with his past and the ghost of his fiancée, Wanda June.
