Two couples camping in remote California woods are hunted by a deranged hermit who has survived there for years by killing and eating anyone who wanders into his territory. Unusually, the film also incorporates the ghosts of the hermit’s murdered family interacting with the campers — giving The Forest a distinctive and oddly memorable supernatural quality alongside its slasher elements.
