THE FINAL COUNTDOWN (1980) — DVD | Kirk Douglas | Martin Sheen | Katharine Ross | PG
They had the power to stop it. They weren’t sure they should.
The USS Nimitz, the world’s most powerful aircraft carrier, is sucked through a time vortex and emerges in December 1941 — hours before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Captain Yelland (Kirk Douglas) and civilian observer Warren Lasky (Martin Sheen) face an impossible decision: use their modern weapons to alter history, or stand aside. A genuinely gripping 1980 sci-fi thriller built around a brilliant premise.
Change the past. Change everything. Are they sure they want to?
