When a Siamese cat named D.C. returns home wearing a watch engraved with a desperate message from a kidnapping victim, teenager Patti (Hayley Mills) convinces the FBI that her cat could lead them to the missing woman. Special Agent Kelso (Dean Jones) is assigned — reluctantly — to follow D.C. through his nightly rounds of restaurants, back alleys and neighbouring homes. The cat, needless to say, has his own agenda.
