SHAKE, RATTLE & ROCK! (1956) — DVD | Mike Connors | Lisa Gaye | Sterling Holloway | NR
The kids loved it. The parents were horrified. Rock and roll was just getting started.
Mike Connors and Lisa Gaye in this cheerfully made and entertainingly nostalgic 1956 musical drama about rock and roll in its earliest and most controversial days — the music that swept through American teenage life and horrified the establishment in equal measure. Sterling Holloway in a film of genuine early rock and roll period charm and the particular delight of watching the beginning of something that would change everything.
The music was new. The reaction to it was very old.
