OPERATION MAD BALL (1957) — DVD | Jack Lemmon | Ernie Kovacs | Kathryn Grant | Not Rated
The regulations said no. Private Hogan said otherwise. Chaos followed.
Private Hogan (Jack Lemmon) is the most resourceful, most cheerful and most comprehensively insubordinate soldier in his Korean War-era Army post — who schemes to organise a secret party bringing together enlisted men and Army nurses despite the furious opposition of the humourless Captain Lock (Ernie Kovacs). Directed by Richard Quine, Operation Mad Ball is a tremendously funny military comedy — featuring Lemmon’s most anarchically physical performance.
The captain said no. Hogan ignored that and organised the party anyway.
