Silver-tongued street poet Hajj (Howard Keel) schemes and swindles his way through the bazaars of old Baghdad, hoping to find a wealthy match for his beautiful daughter Marsinah (Ann Blyth). But when she falls secretly in love with the Caliph himself (Vic Damone), and the scheming Wazir (Sebastian Cabot) plots to use Hajj’s supposed magical powers for his own ends, Hajj must outfox everyone — while Lalume (a show-stopping Dolores Gray), the Wazir’s bored and glamorous wife, decides whose side she’s really on.
