Zed (Eric Stoltz) is an American safecracker who flies to Paris to take part in a bank robbery organised by his old friend Eric (Jean-Hugues Anglade) — and finds that Eric’s heroin-fuelled nihilist crew have no intention of following the plan or surviving the day. Julie Delpy plays Zoe, the call girl Zed meets the night before, whose presence in the bank is a horrifying coincidence. Roger Avary’s debut is raw violent and brilliantly constructed.
