His opponent Matthew Brady (Kirk Douglas) is a three-time presidential candidate and the most celebrated orator in the country. Based on Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee’s celebrated play, which itself was based on the 1925 Scopes Trial.
The jury would decide about the teacher. The argument would go on considerably longer.
