DEATH WATCH (1980) — DVD | Romy Schneider | Harvey Keitel | Harry Dean Stanton | R
She was dying. He was filming every moment without her knowing.
In a near-future where death from natural causes has become so rare it’s entertainment, a TV producer (Harry Dean Stanton) sends a cameraman (Harvey Keitel) with a camera surgically implanted in his eyes to document the final days of a dying woman (Romy Schneider) — without her knowledge. Bertrand Tavernier’s haunting 1980 sci-fi drama is a devastating meditation on voyeurism, privacy, and what it means to be watched.
In the future, dying is a spectator sport.
