When struggling singer Barry Taylor (Max Bygraves) discovers that his baby son can speak in full sentences — complete with surprisingly accurate financial predictions — he’s convinced he’s stumbled upon a goldmine. The only problem is nobody else can hear the infant but him, which makes the whole thing rather difficult to explain to his wife (Shirley Jones), his colleagues, or the financial establishment.
A gentle, good-natured British domestic comedy with a very silly central premise played entirely straight, Bobbikins is a sweet and underrated film from 20th Century Fox’s British operations — and a perfectly entertaining oddity for fans of classic British humour.
